‘Tell me something interesting about yourself’: A gay dating app experiment

Six weeks ago, I changed my Grindr status to “Instead of ‘hey’, feel free to start by telling me something interesting about yourself!”

Neat experiment. How many of them were as interesting in person as they were when auditioning?

  2. In my tinder bio I have “tell me the most ridiculous thing you’ve done” and I’ve gotten a whole RANGE of stories from drunken stupor to incredible feats. It’s so much better than “Hey.” Dating app follies have made some great blog posts for me too!

  3. I’ve been having trouble getting past the ‘hey’s’. Mybe if I decide to try online dating again I’ll try this instead!

I tried this on Tinder and all I get is “lol what do u want to know” or “I’m 28 I have three little girls” or “hey.” I’m jealous!
